Ruto, Cabinet Secretaries make key appointments to state corporations

President William Ruto and several Cabinet Secretaries have made a series of significant appointments to various state corporations and public institutions, according to the latest issue of the Kenya Gazette published on Friday.

In the appointments, President Ruto named Dr. Olang’o Onudi as the non-executive chairperson of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital Board.

The appointment, made under the State Corporations Act and the hospital’s establishing order, takes effect from November 7, 2025, and will run for a three-year term.

The Gazette also records a raft of appointments made by Cabinet Secretaries across key ministries.

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale announced several new members to health-related boards. Dr. Mary Nafula, Dr. Julius Lamaon, Dr. Benson Nyambega, and Anne Korir were appointed to the Board of Trustees of the National Cancer Institute of Kenya for a three-year term.

In a parallel notice, Dr. Linett Ongeri, Simon Githui, Dr. Harun Hassan, and Dr. Dennis Wamalwa were named members of the Kenya Board of Mental Health, with Dr. Beatrice M. Maingi reappointed to continue serving on the same board.

CS Duale further appointed Dr. Maurice K’Odhiambo, Dr. Tadudi Aly Omar, and Serah Mutu Kisilu as members of the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, while reappointing Dr. Isha Anand and Bernard Kimutai Maiyo to the same body for an additional three years.

In the transport sector, Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Davis Chirchir appointed Anne Njeri Gitau to the Aeronautical Search and Rescue Committee for a one-year term.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Julius Migos Ogamba, made a series of appointments and reappointments to the councils of universities and technical institutions.

At Alupe University, Dr. Charles Momanyi and Irene Chebet Chesire were appointed to the council, while Dr. Virginia Kimani was reappointed as the non-executive chairperson alongside Leonard Kinyulusi, Mohamed Ali Dahir, and Joseph Vincent Oyile as members.

At Tom Mboya University, Dorcas Mugambi and Noor Dahir Yusuf were appointed to the council, while Augusta N. Abate was reappointed as chairperson and Lily C. Koech retained her seat as a member.

The Kisumu National Polytechnic also saw new leadership appointments, with Eng. Judah Ochieng Abekah named chairperson and Ismael Noo, Ruth Mounde, Dancun Odhiambo Oginga, and Meissy Naeku Janet appointed as members. Eng. Benedette Waswa Sabuni was reappointed to continue serving on the council.

The latest appointments reflect the government’s ongoing restructuring and reinforcement of leadership across key public service institutions, aimed at enhancing governance and service delivery in health, education, and transport sectors.

All appointments take effect from November 7, 2025.
